Real, ss opposed to what exactly? silicone implants?>

personally, i don't think nadal's biceps are "freakishly big". he looks to me like a guy who lifts weigts. he might be on 'roids, though, but it's not obvious to me.

Yes, he just looks like he lifts a lot weights. Unusual for a tennis player, but most young blokes go through that phase - not unusual at all....

Where do you get the idea that anabolic steroids produce 'fake' muscle? Or are you one of those sheep that say steroids are bad because 'the man' says so?

seles-fan@webtv.net wrote:> He was referring to steroids> Oh I know, I was making fun of his stupid value judgement that muscle mass attained in conjunction with steroid use is somehow 'fake'. It's not as if steroids work without people putting work in, they simply make the work you do more effective.

Because all they really do is help with water retention in the muscle, and when you stop taking them the water goes byebye and the muscle shrinks? Sounds pretty artificial, to me.

The word you are looking for is 'hypertrophy', it also happens to be false; there is far more to it than that. Anabolic steroids....
Enhance growth factor activity Enhance activation of myogenic stem cells Enhance myonuclear number Enhance protein synthesis Stimulate new myofiber formation
...these effects combined result in gain in actual muscle mass when combined with an appropriate diet and exercise. In future do make sure you know something about a subject before making such idiotic proclamations.

Tennis players don't normally have that kind of muscle tone. Think of > Goran, Henman, Kuerton and Federer.
nadal's had a couple times where ran out of steam..i think he's a tad too heavy in the weight room, a tad too light in the cardio room..if he balances that out just a bit, it'll be a step in right direction for his results.
